Privacy Policy

Overview

Zoqi is an anonymous chat app that runs on Telegram. This policy explains what data is processed when you use the app and its bot. Our principle is to keep as little data as possible for as short a time as possible.

Your messages and location are not stored permanently on our servers. We permanently keep your profile (for matching and aggregate statistics), your Telegram name and username (visible only to our authorized team), and VIP membership, invite and safety (reports, bans) records.

Data we process

• Telegram identity: the user number (ID) and language code that Telegram passes to the app are used to verify your session. Your Telegram name and username are also recorded; only our authorized support team can see them, to handle support requests and review reports. They are never shown to other users or shared with anyone. Your profile photo is neither used nor stored.
• Profile and filters: your gender, age and the languages you speak (required for matching) and your search filters. These are kept in Telegram's cloud storage (CloudStorage). Your profile is also stored on our server for matching and aggregate statistics (e.g. the age distribution of users) and is never shown to other users. Your filters are held in server memory only while the app is open.
• Location: used only if you allow it, and only for "Near me" matching. Your location is rounded to about 1 km, kept only in memory and never recorded.
• Passport location (VIP): the location you pick on the map is kept in Telegram storage and used only for Near me matching. Map images are loaded from OpenStreetMap servers.
• Messages: delivered to the other person instantly and not stored. If the other person's connection drops briefly, messages are held in memory for up to 15 seconds until delivered.
• Reported chats: if you report a chat or your chat is reported, up to its last 30 messages are saved for review by the moderation team and deleted after 90 days. Chats that are not reported are never saved.
• Friends: the link between you and your friends (only your Telegram numbers and the date) is stored. Messages you send to a friend are kept on our server until they are delivered (at most 30 days) and deleted once delivered; chat history is stored only on your devices. When a friend messages you, the bot may send you a notification without its content. Friends cannot see each other's identity.
• Personal link (optional): only if you turn it on, we store your link's random code, your username if any, the date you accepted, your "who can write" preferences and link statistics. For conversations started via your link, only the participants' Telegram numbers and dates are kept; messages wait on our server until delivered (at most 30 days) and are deleted once delivered, and history stays only on devices. Conversations without messages for 30 days are closed. Anyone who knows your username can see it, but which Telegram account it belongs to is never shown.
• Usage statistics: how many random chats you've had in total (only the number; not who you talked to or the content) and when and with which Telegram app (mobile, desktop, web) you last used the app are stored to run the service and prevent abuse. Daily total chat counts are kept without being linked to anyone.
• Safety data: to prevent abuse, report records (who reported whom and when; not message content), bans and unauthorized attempts to use VIP features are stored permanently. The list of people you blocked is also stored permanently until you remove it.
• Membership and invite records: your Telegram user number, the date you first used the app, who invited you (via a random invite code), the VIP plans you bought or earned, and the Telegram payment ID. These are stored permanently to verify invites and run your membership.

How we use data

Your data is used only to match you with other users, to run the service and to prevent abuse. We do not do advertising, profiling or sell data.

What is shared with the other person

The person you are matched with cannot see anything about you: your Telegram identity, profile, location and distance are never shown. Only the messages you send reach them.

Information you choose to share in a chat (e.g. a phone number, username or link) is your own responsibility.

Retention and deletion

Data in server memory is deleted shortly after you disconnect, and at the latest when the server restarts.

You can delete your profile, filters and preferences from both Telegram storage and our server at any time with "Delete all my data" on the Profile screen.

Membership and payment records are kept to run your membership and for legal obligations; you can request their deletion by contacting us.

Third parties

The app runs on the Telegram platform, and Telegram's own privacy policy also applies. Our servers run at a hosting provider. Your data is not shared with any other third party.

Telegram Stars payments are processed by Telegram; we never see your payment details.

Your rights

Depending on the laws of your country (e.g. GDPR), you have the right to access, correct and delete your data. You can exercise most of these directly in the app; for other requests, contact us.

Age limit

The app is for people aged 18 and over only. We do not knowingly process data from minors.
